We hope you will find the following information useful in planning your trips between Nadi Airport and the conference venue:
When you arrive at the airport:
- Head to the Vodafone shop just beyond customs. Vodafone is a sponsor of the conference and will be happy to help with any questions you have. If you need a local SIM card or a bus ticket (read below), you can also buy one here.
- The Vodafone shop is also a great place to meet other delegates if you wish to share a taxi to the resort. See information on “Sharing Taxis” below.
- The local information booth and the local taxi service also know when PRICAI delegates are arriving, they will be happy to assist with your queries.
- Remember – ‘Bula’ is how Fijians say ‘Hello” and “Vinaka” is how we say “Thank you”.
- A tip – having some local currency when you arrive will be useful. Taxis in Fiji do not accept credit cards. If you do not have local currency on arrival, you can use money exchange services provided by Western Union and the Westpac Bank located at the airport.
Your trip to the conference venue:
- The drive from the airport to the Shangri-La Fijian Resort takes approximately 1 hour, covering about 60km.
- You have the following options:
- Taxis –Taxis are available from the local taxi service stand outside the arrivals area and are metered. A drive from the airport to the Shangri-La Fijian Resort will cost you around $65 - $75 FJD. See information on “Sharing Taxis” below.
- Buses – Frequent buses board passengers at the airport and make an inexpensive mode of travel. The buses in Fiji require eTransport cards that can be bought and topped up at Vodafone outlets. You can purchase your temporary eTransport card in various denominations ($2, $5, $10, $15, $20, $50, $100) at the Vodafone shop located at the Airport arrivals. A bus trip from the airport to the Shangri-La Fijian Resort will cost you under $7 FJD (Sunbeam buses $5.04, Pacific Transport $6.46). Note that buses can take slightly longer in reaching the destination compared to a car. The buses follow their company schedules, which you will find available at the airport.
Sharing Taxis – Several delegates are arriving on Sunday (25th Aug) and Monday (26th Aug). If you are one of them, and wish to share a taxi to the venue, we suggest you make your way to the Vodafone shop after you arrive and “make a friend” with whom you can travel to the conference.
