The Pacific Rim International Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (PRICAI) was initiated in Japan in 1990, to create an artificial intelligence (AI) conference which would promote collaborative exploitation of AI in the Pacific Rim nations.
The conference has grown, both in participation and scope, and now includes participation from all major Asia Pacific nations. The conference also attracts participation from all over the world, including Europe, Africa, India, and South America.
Dear IJCAI-PRICAI Community,
We would like to provide an update to our community about our plans and response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The situation is of course continuing to change rapidly -- but first and foremost, we want to reassure everyone that IJCAI-PRICAI-2020 will take place in some form, and papers accepted to IJCAI-PRICAI will be published in our proceedings.
We will be keeping open the possibility of an in-person meeting as long as possible, in the hopes that things will look very different by late May. But it is looking more likely that even by July, it may still be crucial to avoid large group meetings or travel, as it is now. We are therefore making backup plans for either a delayed conference or a virtual (online) conference. We’re getting advice from other conferences that are going virtual, and working out the best ways to offer talks, workshops, and tutorials without losing the social aspect that has always been a central part of our meetings and our community.
We especially want to thank all of you in our community for the warm wishes, help, and support you have been providing to the whole IJCAI-PRICAI-2020 committee as we try to manage this extremely difficult problem. We understand that everyone has lots of questions and we’ll continue to keep you updated as we know more. Please take care of yourself and each other.
